The driver from Netherlands will have his first run of the Fortec Dallara in southern Spain on 21-22 March
Fortec Motorsports have announced that the 17-year-old Dutch driver Rinus van Kalmthout (aka “Veekay”) will join their driver lineup in a Dallara F312 for Euroformula Open’s Winter Series event at the Circuito de Jerez. Van Kalmthout’s karting career was one of huge success with the young ace winning the 2013 Dutch Championship Rotax Max Junior also finishing 3rd in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy the following year. He moved into single seaters in 2017 finishing Vice-Champion in the USF2000 Championship. More recently, van Kalmthout finished third in the MRF Challenge with 3 win and 11 podiums to his name.
Rinus explains: “I’m very happy to test with the Euroformula car. After a successful World Series V8 test with Fortec in Bahrain last November I am very pleased with the invitation we got to do the test in Jerez with them in my only month 'off' racing in the United States. To get the experience with a F3-based car is an amazing opportunity and a great experience for in the future”
