The Italian-Canadian young driver talks his season in the Euroformula Open so far
Aldo Festante, an 18 year-old driver from Sant’Angelo in Formis, is making his Euroformula Open debut this season. With previous experience in Formula 4-based series, Festante has shown that he is both determined and talented enough to reach the pinnacle of motorsports despite slightly struggling at Spa-Francorchamps and Hungaroring.
“My season so far has been a bit inconsistent, had an average start in Estoril and a very solid weekend at Paul Ricard but then drastically fell down at Spa and Hungaroring, so I am looking for a better second half of the season with some proper learning and positive results” explains Festante. The Italian-Canadian young racer adds that “in comparison to my previous racing experiences, Euroformula is an international championship, which offers a great knowledge of the circuits around Europe, racing and fighting is harder as well since everything happens at a higher speed. The Dallara F312 is a great car, one of the best to learn how to properly drive a racing car, its most challenging aspect is for sure the corner speed, it’s really impressive how much speed these cars can carry in the turns, thanks to the big amount of downforce they have”. Obviously some characteristic which take some time to deal with!
Finally, Festante underlines that “the track I enjoyed the most so far has for sure been Paul Ricard, as it’s a track where I really struggled during the Winter Series but thanks to the hard work done together with the team I achieved a good top 5 at the race in May. By the way, I can’t wait to get back to Silverstone, I drove there last year and really enjoyed it. Now it’s time to enjoy the summer break, I’ll be back strong and ready!”
See you at “The Home of British Motor Racing”, Aldo!
