Ombra Racing will be present in the 2020 GT Cup Open Europe. The Italian team based in Bergamo, which has had a regular presence in the International GT Open since 2012 running Ferrari and Lamborghini cars, is starting a new project and will enter full-season, with the support of Centri Porsche Padova, a Porsche 911 Cup for Aldo Festante, who is also competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italy.
Aldo Festante will not be a new face in GT Sport-promoted events, as the 20-year-old from Capua took part to the Euroformula Open in 2019-18. He commented: “The GT Cup offers drivers the possibility to measure themselves on some of the greatest tracks and I value this opportunity for my personal progression.”
Ombra Racing Team Principal Davide Mazzoleni declared: “Despite the complications of the 2020 season, we did not want to let go the opportunity to be present on the international scene and we are happy to do it in a GT Sport series, as our international debut was precisely in the GT Open back in 2012. We thank GT Sport for putting together a great calendar, despite all the difficulties created by the pandemic. Aldo Festante is determined to do well and we are anxious to get rolling!”
The team is considering entering also a second car, for which negotiations are underway.
