Today is a very sad day for Spanish motorsport and for all of us at GT Sport. We mourn the loss of a great friend, Adrián Campos, who has left us at the age of 60.
Adrián's successful career as a driver, crew chief and talent scout is well known. For all of us at GT Sport, he has been a traveling companion, both sports and personal, with whom we have shared endless experiences.
Shortly after its founding, his Campos Racing enthusiastically joined our single-seater championship, winning it in 2008, 2009 and 2016. Adrián was always there, giving us support, ideas and friendship. He trained a whole generation of drivers, engineers, managers and mechanics to whom he transmitted his knowledge and passion. Among them, his own children, Adrián Jr and Lucas, with whom he now shared managing duties in a squad involved in many categories.
"We are stunned by the unexpected and sad news," said Jesús Pareja, President and CEO of GT Sport. “Adrián has been a leading figure in Spanish motorsport and leaves a long-lasting mark in all the roles he ha: driver, team leader, talent scout. He was, above all, one of our ‘bunch’, of our generation, a very dear friend to all of us at GT Sport and to myself. As drivers, we raced together and against each other. As a team owner, he has been one of the first and strongest supporters of our single-seater series.
We will always remember him with the greatest affection. At this sad moment, we offer our condolences to his sons, Adrián jr and Lucas, his entire family, his colleagues at Campos Racing and his many friends ”.
