Francesco Simonazzi won Race 3 in Barcelona, the last race of the 2023 Euroformula Open season. The Italian of BVM Racing took the lead at the start, making a perfect use of his front-row position in the reverted grid and controlled the entire race, despite pressure in the final laps from Jakob Bergmeister (Motopark). The young German of Motopark, who won the Rookie Trophy this year, performed his best race of the season and finished a sensational second.

Third was Noel León (Motopark), the new Champion, who could face the final weekend totally relaxed and was obviously the great star in the Awards Ceremony that took place after the last race in one of the lounges of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Race 3 was relatively uneventful but intense. Bergmeister was sitting  on pole in the reversed grid and only Simonazzi could pass him in the initial phases. The Italian pulled away but his pace slowed in the second part of the race, allowing Bergmeister to close back.

“I am super happy”, said Francesco, “because it was one of my best races in Euroformula. I enjoyed it so much that I was even surprised when I saw the chequered flag, not having realized it was the last lap. I could build a good gap but at the end had to keep Jakob at bay. It’s nice to finish the year with a win, strangely enough my two wins came in first and last round this year.”

Enzo Trulli (CryptoTower) was fourth from lights to flag and preceeded his teammate Charlie Wurz, who had passed runner-up Cian Shields after few laps, with Levente Révész  taking 7th.
